Top 10 Navy SEALs books

US Navy SEALs have been a hot item since the spectacularly successful Osama bin Laden raid in 2011. Here is my list of the top books about the Navy SEALs.

1. Lone Survivor: The Eyewitness Account of Operation Redwing and the Lost Heroes of SEAL Team 10 by Marcus Lutrell. Marcus Luttrell was the only survivor of Operation Redwing, the desperate 2005 battle in Afghanistan that ultimately led to the largest loss of life in Navy SEAL history.   Inspiring true-life stories of camaraderie, patriotism and courage.

2. The Operator: Firing the Shots that Killed Osama bin Laden and My Years as a SEAL Team Warrior by Robert O’Neill. O’Neill of course is the man who killed Osama bin Laden during the daring 2011 raid on bin Laden’s compound. This book details O’Neill’s life as a SEAL including (incredibly) more than 400 combat missions. The second half of the book covers the rescue of Captain Phillips from Somali pirates and the bin Laden raid.

3. No Easy Day: The Autobiography of a Navy Seal: The Firsthand Account of the Mission That Killed Osama Bin Laden by Mark Owen and Kevin Maurer. Bestselling account of Matt Bissonnette, the Navy SEAL who took part in the 2011 raid on Osama bin Laden's compound in Pakistan.

 4. American Sniper: The Autobiography of the Most Lethal Sniper in U.S. Military History by Chris Kyle. Bestselling autobiography of legendary SEAL sniper Chris Kyle (1974-2013), who had more recorded sniper kills than anyone else in U.S. military history.

5. Fearless: The Undaunted Courage and Ultimate Sacrifice of Navy SEAL Team SIX Operator Adam Brown by Eric Blehm. Chronicles the life of Adam Brown, an authentic American hero, from his childhood in Arkansas to his final mission in Afghanistan.

6. SEAL TEAM SIX: Memoirs of an Elite Navy SEAL Sniper by Howard E. Wasdin and Stephen Templin. Memoir of a boy from a troubled home, who overcame hardship to become an elite SEAL sniper.

7. Service: A Navy SEAL at War by Marcus Luttrell and James D. Hornfischer. Luttrell describes the ordeal of the SEALs who fought for months of high-intensity urban warfare in Ramadi.

8. Warrior Soul: The Memoir of a Navy Seal by Chuck Pfarrer. The story of Pfarrer’s effort to become a Seal, and his description of several SEAL operations.

9. Seal of Honor: Operation Red Wings and the Life of Lt. Michael P. Murphy, USN by Gary Williams. Gripping story of Lt. Mike Murphy, who was with Marcus Luttrell in the mountains of Afghanistan when their SEAL team was detected and attacked by Al-Qaeda/Taliban forces in 2005.

10. Damn Few: Making the Modern SEAL Warrior by Rorke Denver, Ellis Henican. The author, who starred in the film "Act of Valor," chronicles what goes into making America's elite warriors, the Navy SEALs.

11. The Warrior Elite: The Forging of SEAL Class 228 by Dick Couch. Written by a graduate of BUD/S class 45 in 1969 (top of his class), this book follows class 228 through six months of some of the most brutal training in the world.
